Carlin was always known for his acerbic language and opinions towards American culture. Carlin had a gift for saying - and thinking - things that other people wouldn’t or couldn’t" (McGrath, 2008). And he was proud to have inspired other comedy greats who routinely called him to say, "If it weren't for you, I wouldn't be doing this" (Dixit, 2008).
